Abstract

This is a review paper which deals on a deeper meaning of participatory development based on the critical theory and dependency theory of development plus its concepts of sustainability and multiplicity. The view of participation, as presented, cuts out a specific and critical role of communication that departs from conventional approaches of media-oriented communication.
