Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a rapid rise in online shopping since it provided more options and convenience for individuals impacted by the pandemic, prompting more Filipinos to start selling online. This research aims to explore the positive and negative experiences of new online sellers in terms of their social, personal, and economic aspects, distinguish the advantages and disadvantages of starting an online secondhand clothing business, and assess the factors affecting the decision of online sellers to open their online clothing business, which all happened during the pandemic. The data was analyzed using thematic analysis, which revealed online sellers' experiences with online selling, gains obtained from online selling, challenges encountered along the way, and factors influencing the decision to sell online. Online selling is simple to navigate because the participants encountered no difficulties and had prior knowledge of online shopping. While the benefits of online selling involve building relationships with co-sellers and customers, generating financial gains, and earning sufficient income, problems such as customer complaints, delivery delays, and fatigue due to a lack of staff require patience and efficient communication. Entrepreneurs seized the growing demand for secondhand clothes, employing technology and social media to launch low-cost businesses, with income as motivation. The study emphasized the accessibility of online selling to Filipinos of all educational backgrounds, which empowers aspiring entrepreneurs by sharing insights from various online sellers and ultimately encouraging financial resilience and entrepreneurship in the Philippines.
