Abstract
Many people suffer from burnout, especially students studying in a public and state university. The students are exposed to a lot of difficulties and stress, and it takes a toll on their health, especially their mental health. This study identifies the relationships between the factors of student burnout, the effect it has on their mental and physical well-being, and the effect it has on their academic performance. This study also entails what coping mechanisms the students most commonly use, and which are effective for them. The researchers used a cross-sectional type of study. The participants were the Grade 11 students of the University of the Philippines Rural High School. The data collection was through online surveys and interviews, which were then analyzed using diagnostic analytics. There are limitations as only a small population of the entire student body was studied, but there are still a lot of significant factors that were found whilst conducting the research. Significant findings in this research include the amount of stress that the students have in relation to their academics, the significance of peers and relationships, coping mechanisms and coping strategies, and overworking due to overload of requirements. The results revealed how the students are alarmingly burnt out and stressed due to their academics, but also how resilient they are. The students also voiced out their own concerns and solutions to certain issues or factors that negatively affected their mental health. They noted how heavy and burdening their schoolworks and how hectic their schedules were.
