Abstract
The study is about the creation of a Virginin Tobacco Crop Insurance Model. The area covered were the provinces of Abra, Ilocos Norte, and La Uniion. The Tobacco Crop in innured against losses cause by natural calamities such as typhoon, flood, drought, earthquakes; plant diseases; and pest infestations. The term of the insurance in on a crop reason basis covering the period from direct planting up to the completion of the curing process. The amount of insurance cover was not to be P26,480.80 per hectare of innured land which is the maximum production cost of tobacco crop. Loss-severity rate was computed to be 14.878% resulting to a premium payment of P3,939.81. The feasibility of the implementation of the model was examined and evaluation showed that only under certain condition will the insurance model be feasible. Recommendations regarding the results and conclusion of the study were presented.
