Abstract

Scheduling of a large scale project such as the B. S. Applied Mathematics curriculum has been facilitated through the use of two network oriented techniques. the PERT (Program Evaluation and Review Technique) and CPM (Critical Path Method). A network diagram of the curriculum was created and using these two techniques with specific identification of the activity and project time durations, the activity's starting times and finishing times including its total float and free float were computed from which the critical paths in the network were derived. Using a heuristic approach, rules or guidelines for assigning activity priorities in making the sequencing decisions that were required for resolution of activity conflicts, were used in obtaining the final solution. The new obtained schedule were then compared to the present curriculum.
