Abstract
This study involves the application of two model trust-region type of algorithms, the Hook method and the Dogleg method to nonlinear least-squares. To evaluate their performance, computer codes of these two methods were developed together with that of the Levenberg-Marquardt method for comparison purposes. The Hook method and the Dogleg method were found to be superior to the Levenberg-Marquardt method in terms of the number of iterations required to solve the test problems for a given accuracy. The Dogleg was able to solve almost all the test problems while the Hook method and the Levenberg-Marquardt method solved a lesser number of test problems.
