Abstract

The major practice was conducted in Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort which is situated in San Pablo City, Laguna extending up to the lands of Tiaong, Quezon. The major practice was performed from April 19, 2010 to May 28, 2010. The site is approximately 800 of which 80 hectares was converted into a resort and the rest remains a coconut plantation. The objective of the practice is to learn and evaluate the different landscape implementation and various maintenance operations in the site. The student actively participated in the implementation operations such as land clearing, grading, lay-outing and planting at the Welcome Lawn Area (Lawn Area IB). Landscape maintenance activities were conducted at the Big House and Coconut Pavilion with more focus at the Museum Plaza. Walk through inspection and supervision were done in the said area. Before the implementation and maintenance practices, the student also participated in the continuation of the construction of the base map. This activity was done at the Athletic Area and Waterfalls Area. Cost analysis of the implementation process of the Welcome Lawn Area (Lawn Area IB) and maintenance operations at the Museum Plaza was prepared. The estimated cost of the implementation process of the Welcome Lawn Area which measures 8,414.75 sq. m amounted to PhP 75,273.00 or PhP 8.95 per sq. m. The cost maintenance of the Museum Plaza amounted to 18,480 Php or 3.34 Php per sq. m.. SWOT analysis of the implementation of the Welcome Lawn Area as well as the maintenance operations at the Museum Plaza was prepared. Technical problems include lack of tools, lack of man power, incorrect use and application of fertilizers, lack of soil testing before implementation, and improper wearing of farm uniforms among field workers. But VESPAR's landscape department addressed these problems by improvising tools and equipment and adopting laborer rotation. Poor communication between the owners and staff was observed. This problem resulted in budget cut-off in landscaping of the Welcome Lawn Area and maintenance of landscaped area like the Museum Plaza. The recommendation for this problem is to conduct regular meetings stockholders. The major practice student helped the laborers assigned to the Museum Plan realize that their maintenance operations and the site's condition are still wanting. They realized that they should improve on their performance in order to have a better landscape.
