Abstract

First hand information on the folk herbal practices of the Sagada Igorots was obtained. Indigenous, effective and acceptable plant sources of drugs/medicine were gathered and identified. From the recommendation, of fifteen traditional herbalists, 53 plants were known, 37 were collected and 40 plants were photographed. Again, the abundance and availability of plant sources for medicine together with the cultural practices accompanying them have been verified though greatly threatened by the influx of modernization. The fusion of traditional herbal practices and western medical science has been seen to be a temporary but a viable alternative in solving the health problems facing the country today.
