Abstract
Hybrid nuts of the cross 'Yellow Dwarf, x 'sun Ramon' (YD x SR), 'Yellow Dwarf' x 'Kinabalan' (YD x KN) and 'Yellow Dwarf' x 'African Tambolilid' (YD x Afta) were studied to determine the effect of pollen source on the different nut components.
The cross YD x SR had the highest weight and volume. YD x Afta had the lowest weight and volume. Nuts from cross YD x KN had intermediate values. Except for copra, nut components as dehusked nuts, husk, meat and shell, shell, and fresh meat, followed the same order as that of the whole nut weight and volume.
Meat and shell: whole nut; shell: whole nut; and fresh meat: whole nut were considerably affected with YD x KN hybrids obtaining the highest value and YD x SR obtained the lowest value. Dehusked nut :whole nut and husk: whole nut were not affected by the pollen source.
