Abstract
Twenty five-years-old grafted 'Carabao' mangoes were fertilized with three NPK levels through ten equidistant holes dug 1 m away from and around the trunk. All experimental trees were sprayed with a commercial flower inducer. Eleven parameters studied had no statistical differences among treatment means. There was a high correlation between number of days and their color development. A trend of decreasing color change is observed as the rate of fertilization increases.
The other results were.as follows: (1) trees were in relatively better condition at medium fertilizer level, (2) incidence of pests, diseases, and blemishes was lower in the same treatment which also yielded heavier and sweeter fruits. The medium level of fertilizers promoted better growth or flushes than the other treatments. Despite apparent favorable effects of 1,010, 378, and 384 g N, P205, and K20, respectively, this could not be taken better than the control because of lack of statistical significance.
