Abstract

The study evaluates the content Math B (Fundamentals of Mathematics II), a self-teaching module for Science Teaching Upgrading through Distance Instruction (STUDI), in terms of readability, reader appeal, and suitability of the material to its target clientele, via indices and formulae of Romey, Flesch and Talisayon. The readability level of the module was found to be fairly difficult; its reader appeal or human interest, dull. The computed indices revealed that the text is non-investigate, while figures and diagrams are for illustrative purposes only, and that the self-assessment questions are authoritarian.
