Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the delivery of gender-sensitive extension and agricultural advisory services among selected local government units (LGUs) in Laguna. Formulated survey questionnaires and key informant interviews were conducted among the agricultural extension workers of the LGUs.

Based on collected data, misconceptions on gender and other related concepts are still prevalent among the respondents. The respondents also lack GAD training and have few to no experience in working on a GAD project. GAD activities of the selected LGUs mainly revolve on economic empowerment through livelihood training programs for women, particularly members of the Rural Improvement Club (RIC) in the case of two LGUs. On the other hand, three sampled LGUs have not yet implemented any gender-sensitive services.

There is still a lot to improve on the delivery of gender-sensitive extension and advisory services in the province as more LGUs take the step to implement this type of services such as investing more on capacity-building of their staff and implementing more inclusive GAD activities to address issues and concerns of both genders.
