Abstract

An instrument for measuring percent sound transmission of different materials was designed. implemented, tested and evaluated. It has an isolation set-up wherein the transducer is located and the materials are placed for test The instrument was interfaced to a 80486 microcomputer system through an analog to digital card which was manually made A versatile program was developed to control the instrument for data collection and storage into a file. The device has measured the percent sound transmission of four different materials with three different thickness namely concrete, glass, plywood and galvanized iron as metal. The decimal values of percent sound transmission of these materials range from 0.95 to 1.01.
