Abstract
The design, construction and implementation of a PC-based operational amplifier tester integrated both hardware and software. This tester is basically designed to test the DC parameters of the operational amplifier Among these characteristics are the open loop gain, closed loop gain, input impedance, input offset voltage, input bias current and common mode rejection ratio. In the design of the hardware, a data acquisition card and an op-amp interface circuit was constructed. The data acquisition card was calibrated with respect to the multimeter that was used for the standard testing The card and the multimeter was found out to be linear and with a very minimal standard error of 0.01136. Circuits were designed for each parameter being measured. In the interface device itself, the corresponding pin connections were controlled through the printer port by using relays The test was limited to 4 types of op-amps (LM741,LM307,LM301 and LF 411) It was found out that the constructed instrument is effective in measuring the closed loop gain of 1,6,10 and 17.5.
