Abstract

Fibers of polyaniline (PANi) and polyaniline/polyester based were fabricated using the electrospinning process with 10 kV power supply. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) was used to determine the surface morphology and diameter of the fiber. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometer was used to verify the composition of the fabricated PANi (before and after electrospinning), PANi with 25% polyester (before and after electrospinning), PANi with 50% polyester (before and after electrospinning), PANi with 50% polyester (before and after electrospinning), and polyester, respectively. The fabricated fibers obtained showed a circular shape diameter with some defects such as dots and cracks on the surface due to the high voltage applied. The identity of the fabricated PANi before and after electrospinning was confirmed in FTIR as the functional groups that describe the oxidation of PANi was obtained. Polyester, along with polyaniline, was also confirmed to be present in the polyaniline/polyester blends (before and after electrospinning). Electrospinning process did not affect the chemical composition of PANi and Polyester as the peaks before and after electrospinning showed almost no differences. Result also showed that there was no chemical reaction between polyaniline and polyester in the PANi/polyester blends.
