Abstract

Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 (Bi-2212) films were fabricated from Iii-2212 powder via sandwich substrate method. The Bi-2212 powder was produced using solid-state reaction and was processed into a film by sedimentation deposition, partial melting between two Mg0 substrates and annealing for 5 hours for all the samples. The temperature of the melting stage was varied at 870°C, 900°C and 930°C. The surface structure and crystallographic alignment of films produced was analyzed through a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD). It was found that the sample whose melting stage temperature is 870'C showed a generally flat surface morphology and a single-phase Bi-2212 film with c-axis orientation.
