Abstract
An automated optical and data acquisition system is designed and constructed the system. The system is intended to be used for photovoltage measurements and surface photovoltage spectroscopy of semiconductors. The design system consists of a 55-watt halogen bulb, a monochromator, analog to digital converter card connected to the computer and a program for the computer which controls the entire system. Two materials were used as samples to be characterized by the system, namely solar cells taken from a calculator and a silicon photodiode. The whole system was shown to perform effectively in providing monochromated light and an automated data acquisition and analysis of photo responses.
