Abstract
An instrument for measuring ammonia gas concentration was designed, implemented, and calibrated using a TGS-826 ammonia gas sensor. The sensor was calibrated by volatizing different concentrations of ammonium hydroxide solutions inside a stainless steel gas chamber. Field measurement was done in two swine facilities in Lipa City, Batangas. The instrument is portable and may be interfaced to a personal computer through an analog to digital card which was manually made using an ADC 0808. A computer program was developed for data reading. The instrument was calibrated from 5 ppm to 300 ppm ammonia gas concentration. The measured concentrations in the two swine buildings are within the range of 8.44 ppm to 41.81 ppm.
