Abstract
A Global System for Mobile communication (GSM)-based cell phone and Short Message Service (SMS) messaging technology through. ATtention commands, a Hayes standard for modems, was used as the method to access the basic functions of the Nokia 6210 cellular phone. Through this technique, the cellular phone was tested and verified to send SMS message first through the computer and then remotely. The Atmel AT90S2313 microcontroller was used to facilitate all the events in the remote system, starting with gathering data from the interrupt based instrument to instructing the cell phone for an SMS mode of data transmission. Using the Hyperterminal and HDD free serial port monitor, the activities of the whole system were visualized and verified. The methods used that data transmission in SMS form using ATtention commands is hardware cheap, accurate and reliable.
