Abstract

Superconducting phases of Ph-free, P1)04 doped, and 11)06 doped Iii2Sr2Ca,Cu20. (Bi-2212). Ca3Cu02, and CuO system were synthesized via partial melting. Magnetic susceptibility test indicated that two critical temperatures were present in a sample of Pb-doped Bi2Sr2Ca1Cu208 (Bi-2212), Ca3CuO2, and CuO system while only a single Tc was found in the Pb-free sample. XRD analysis shows that both Bi-2212 and Bi-2223 phases were synthesized for the two Pb-doped samples and only Bi-2212 was formed in the Pb-free sample. Results of the study suggest that Pb is essential in synthesizing Bi-2223 superconducting phase from Bi2Sr2CalCu208(Bi-2212), Ca3Cu02, and CuO system.
