Abstract
The study aimed to establish a water balance analysis on man-made lake for golf course irrigation system on Tagaytay Midlands' 3rd 9-hole golf course. Rational method was used in the computation of lake inflow. Hydrologic Engineering Center Statistical Software Package was used in the general frequency analysis of the rainfall and evaporation. Frequency analysis was used to predict the probability of a given magnitude of parameter to occur. Rainfall, reference evaporation and potential evapotranspiration were the parameters considered in the analysis. In determining irrigation water requirement 20% acceptable risk was considered both for rainfall and evapotranspiration. Irrigation water demand was determined by establishing cropping pattern of Princess-77 for the whole year. It was found out that using daily rainfall data as basis for water supply, the lake is deficit for irrigation source of the golf course for the months of February to April. The highest water requirement was 10.4 Ips/ha on average during the second half of February since zero magnitude effective rainfall will take effect. The average maximum yield of the lake was 520.8 L/s. The flow can satisfy at least 19% of irrigation water demand up to 93% during the deficit periods. For the rest of the year rainfall is enough to meet the farm water requirement of the golf course. Thus, the lake is reliable 71% of the time.
