Abstract

Problems of sustainable electricity supply are evident in many places in the country. This study aims to analyze the relationship between household electricity consumption in Masbate and its determinants, highlighting the impact of power interruptions. In providing insights on consumers’ demand for electricity, the household production theory was used in the study. The data used in this study were obtained through online surveys from the households of Ticao Island, Masbate.

Linear and log-linear regression models are used to examine the existing relationship of independent variables to electricity consumption. In examining the relationship between variables, the results showed that household size, income, ownership of air conditioning units, electric fans, washing machines, and refrigerators positively affect household electricity consumption while power interruptions have a negative effect on the electricity consumption.
