Abstract
Twenty one (21) pseudomonad isolates from Laguna de Bay were screened for their ability to degrade ethanol. Initial assay using the filter disk technique yielded twelve (12) ethanol degraders; only seven (7) of which were confirmed to be positive for ethanol degradation using the cylinder cup method. ethanol concentrations of up to 20% were metabolized by the bacteria; higher concentrations proved to be inhibitory to the isolates.
