Abstract
For an urbanizing location such as Los Baños, a need for establishing base traffic conditions of road networks in terms of LOS and delay time and a need to evaluate the effects of traffic control measures exist. The base conditions and evaluation are to be used as reference to assess future traffic impact of further urbanization and implementation of traffic management schemes. the study was done to evaluate the current performance of a transportation network composed of six unsignalized intersections in Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines and evaluate the effects of banning tricycles along the National Highway, optimized actuated-uncoordinated signalization and channelization of traffic movements. Manual traffic count was during the Am and PM peak hours of the network. Trial versions of synchro6 and Sim Traffic were used to obtained the LOS of intersections, simulate the traffic conditions and assess the effects of traffic management schemes. An LOS F was obtained from five out of six intersections during the PM peak hour and LOS F was obtained for all the intersections during the AM peak hour. Banning of tricycles along the National Highway and optimized actuated-uncoordinated signalization can be used in certain intersections to improve the performance of the whole transportation network.
