Abstract
Blood plasma samples from 71 native and 47 migrant residents of Barangay Bambang, Los Banos, Laguna, were collected and analyzed. Polyacrylamide disc gel electrophoresis (PAGE) showed 37 protein bands with varying mobilities, intensities and frequencies. All 37 bands were observed in both natives and migrants. The fastest moving band has an average Rf value of 0.8714 while the slowest moving band has 0.0131. Comparison of the frequencies of the bands between the natives and the migrants showed that 25 out of the 37 bands differed in their percentage of occurrence. Statistical analysis for the equality of variances revealed significant differences in the variability of the blood plasma proteins between the natives and the migrants.
