Abstract
Photomicrographs of cells from Giemsa-stained slides of human leukocytes cultured in vitro treated with varying concentrations of the water soluble extract of Artemisia L. were obtained. Karyograms of each of the cells were made. The relative length and the slope of the average relative lengths of each of the chromosomes were obtained. Results showed that there is a general decrease in the size of the chromosomes as the concentrations of the water-soluble extract of Artemisia vulgaris L. leaf extract increased. Moreover, it was observed that the arbitrarily assigned chromosome 21 (Group G) and the chromosomes belonging to group F are more susceptible to the treatment.
