Abstract
Starch Gel electrophoresis of blood hemolysates from randomly selected persons of Batong Malake and Baybayin , Los Banos , Laguna revealed five polymorphic enzymes, esterase (Es), alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH), malate dehydrogenase (MDH), glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) and acid phosphatase (AcPh) at pH 8.6. Four of the five enzymes revealed three bands with different mobilities while the other enzyme (AcPh) has only two bands present. Variation of banding patterns were obtained, but due to a low frequency, a relation of such patterns to any disease is not conclusive. More samples and wider scope of locality should be used so as to have a conclusive result on the relationship of variants in banding patterns to certain genetic diseases.
