Abstract

Using the modified egg chromosome technique, the karyotype of the golden snail was determined. The diploid chromosome number ranged from 8 to 25 with a mode of 2n=12. The chromosomes were spherical, ovoid to semirodlike in shape. The relative lengths ranged from 0.10 to 0.12 and from 0.08 to 0.08 for the largest and smallest chromosomes, respectively. The mitotic index ranged from 4.85 to 39.79% with an average of 15.21%
