Abstract
The seeds of 23 pioneer tree species under 16 genera and 10 families were examined Seed descriptions and a seed key to species were constructed on the basis of external morphological characters. It was found that there was no morphological feature that can unify all the 23 species since the list is composed of numerous unrelated or distantly related taxa. However, similarities were observed among the members of the genus and family, indicating that send morphological characters may reflect phylogenetic relationships.
