Abstract
The incidence of parasitism was studied in cane toads from two sites in Bay, Laguna, rice field and residential sites from December 2008 to January 2009. Although cane toads from the residential site were larger (98.76±8.8469 mm) and heavier (95.468±24.2522 g) than the toads from the rice field. the difference in the Inuit 5V1.s and weights of toads was not significant. External abnormalities such as short digits. ectrodactyly and polydactyly were observed. Liver cross-sections of ten (10) randomly picked toads had normal hepaiqcytes and had no parasites in the bile duct. An acanthocephalan ovum found was possibly identified as Acanthocephalus canoe. Nematode eggs that could possibly he ApiaIona or Oxysomatium were observed in stool samples from 67 toads. 37 from the rice field, and 30 from the residential site. Prevalence of parasitic infection was higher in the rice field site 7-1')/d than in the residential site. 60%.
