Abstract

Polyacrylamide disc gel electrophoresis of 48 stored plasma samples of Rattus rattus mindanensis at 1:20 dilution with distilled water showed a total of 38 bands. The 38 bands were arbitrarily divided into four zones. In all samples both anodal and cathodal banas were observed, with differences in their relative intensities and frequency of occurrence. Banding patterns of the different samples exhibited unique protein bands which suggest unique genotype of each individual rat. There was poly-morphism observed in Zones 1 to 3. Zone 4, however is monomorphic. What was mainly observed were phenotypically polymorphic banding patterns and not genetically polymorphic variants.
