Abstract
Acetocarmine squash preparation of 1.5 - 2.0 cm flower buds of Gardenia jasminoides E. fixed with Farmer's solution at arouns 1:45 - 2:00 pm. revealed the leiotic cells and chromosomes of the species. Meiotic index of G. jasminoides was 45.99%. Chromosomes number was 2n=22. Laggard was seen during metaphase I. Late disjunction and sticky chromosomes were seen during Anaphase I. chromosomes behavior was normal at the Telophase I and Meiosis II. The average lengths of the chromosomes at diakinesis ranged from 4.0 mm to 7.5 mm while the relative lengths ranged from 0.07 to 0.13. The chromosomes were very thick and heavily stained.
