Abstract
Observations on Sto. Tomas River was done based on the following parameters: water temperature, pH, DO, electrical conductivity, alkalanity, chloride, ammonia-N, nitrogen-N, and ortho-phosphate content. The formerly proticuous, heavily sediment-laden river with a high level of hardness. low alkalanity and neutral pH was dominated by two genera under Class Bacillariophyta namely Navicula and Nitzschia. The minor species were Cyclotella meninghiniana, and Synedra fasiculata,. The species are considered tolerant to a variety of ecological condition in the river. A dichotomous key is constructed. Description and photomicrographs are given for each species.
