Abstract

The occurrence of Morinda citrifolia L. as among the pioneer species in volcanic rocks of Taal has led previous workers to look at the nitrogenase activity in its non-nodulated roots. This study considered the isolation of the microorganism from the rhizoplane of this plant by the serial dilution technique. Morphological and biochemical tests conducted on the isolate indicated that the bacterium most probably belongs to family Enterobacteriaceae.
