Abstract
Karyotype of Phyllanthus niruri found in the vicinity of the Bureau of Plant Industry at Los Baños, Laguna was made. Chromosome mounts were prepared using the acetocarmine squash technique. Mitotic cells observed were normal. Results showed that the mitotic index ranged from 17.7 to 28.6% Around seventy eight percent of the C- metaphase have 24 chromosome and twenty percent showed 20 chromosome number was 2n= 24. The total length of the chromosome ranged from 3.0 to 13.0. Chromosomes have relative lengths ranging from 0.024 to 0.071. There are ratio of the chromosomes of this plant was calculated ranging from 1.00 to 2.25 Metacentric and sub-metacentric chromosomes were obtained from the Karyotype.
