Abstract

Fifteen milkfishes of more or less the same sizes were obtained from the ureau of fisheries and Aquatic Resources brackish water demonstration farm in Pagbilao, Quezon and their blood were analyzed through polyacrykamide disc gel electrophoresis as the number of hemoglabin components they poseses. The same tratment was done to 15 brackish water hemolysates from Sipocot Camarines Sur . Results show that both the Pagbilao and Sipocot brackish water samples exhibited multiplicity of the hemoglabin. the hemolysates from Pagbilao were found to have six bands while the blood samples from Sipocot showed eight hemoglabin bands. In both cases, the electrophoretic patterns were homogenous. However, that of the milkfish from Sipocot, Camarines Sur was more complex.
