Abstract

A 35-day feeding trial was conducted to determine the effects of feeding chili (Capsicum frutescens L.) powder on the growth performance of broilers. A total of 280broiler chicks were used in the study. Four dietary treatments were randomly distributed to 28 cages following Completely Randomized Design (CRD. Broilers in control group were fed with commercial starter and finisher diets while those in treatments 2, 3 and 4 were fed with commercial starter and finisher diets with 1.0, 3.0 and 5.0% chili powder, respectively. Significant difference (p0.05). There was no improvement in the income over feed and chick costs (IOFCC) upon the addition of chili powder. The study showed that chili powder had positive effect on the growth performance of broilers but only during finisher stage.
