Abstract
One auxotrophic mutant JDAM 101 was isolated from the ampicillin treated NG-mutagenized Cellulomonas flavigena cells. Normal growth of the isolate, JDAM 101, occurred when adenine was supplied to the growth medium, thus, the mutation is most likely on the gene coding for one of the enzyme necessary for the biosynthesis of adenine. There were no spontaneous and induced revertants isolated after 7 days, thus, there may be closely-linked double mutation formed which are not revertible even when treated with alkylating agents like NG.
