Abstract
The chromosome number, meiotic behavior, and pollen fertility of Calanthe triplicata (Willem) Ames. were investigated Cytological observation revealed a chromosome number of 2n=40 Irregularities in chromosome behavior such as laggards (1.57%-16.28%) and late disjunction (5.56%-9.10%) especially during Anaphase of Meiosis I were observed. Majority of the chromosomes were found normal in all stages. The few abnormalities noted did not have a significant effect in the proper segregation and behavior of the chromosomes.
