Abstract

ABSTRACT FORTUNA, Pedrito Sandy, Monserrat, University of the Philippines at Los Bafloa, June, 1981. A SURVEY ON THE EQUENCY OF CONSANGUINEOUS MARRIAGES IN TWO LOCALITIES OF CALAUAN, LAGUNA. Adviser: Mrs. Rita Pacho-Laude. Eight marriages among 400 households were reported to be consanguineous. Five of the three types in Barangay Dayap and three of the two types in Poblacion Kanluran , Calauan, Laguna. Consanguinity type ranged from the first cousin to the third cousin. The mean coefficient of inbreeding was O. 0007421 and O. 00062695 in Barangay Dayap and Poblacion Kanluran, respectively. The genetic and sociological correlates of inbreeding were discussed. A large sample was needed in order to estimate the mutational damage or lethal equivalents in man based on the differences from the relative frequencies of genetic correlates between consanguineous and non consanguineous matings.
