Ten species of marine periphytic diatoms associated with Sargassum and Gracilaria of Matabungkay, Batangas and Plaridel, Quezon were described and identified in a taxonomic account. Centric diatoms and pennate diatoms of the araphid group comprise this account that included Bacteriastrum fircatum Shadbolt, Coscinodiscus obscurum Janisch, Cyclotella stylorum Brightwell, Odontella aurita (Lyngbye) Agardh, Odontella rhombus Bat., Paralia sulcata, (Ehrenberg) Cleve, Climacosphenia elongata Bailey, Grammatophora oceanica (Ehrenberg) Grunow, Rhabdonema adriaticum Kutzing, and Toxarium undulatum Bailey.
