Abstract
Blood plasma samples from III native and 77 migrant residents of Barangay Lalakay, Los Banos, Laguna, were collected and analyzed. Thirty seven plasma protein bands with varying mobilities and frequencies were revealed through polyacrylamide disc gel electrophoresis (PAGE). All 37 bands were observed in both native and migrants. The fastest moving band has an average RF value of 0.908 while the slowest moving band has 0.018. Comparison of the frequencies of the bands between the natives and the migrants showed that 22 out of the 37 bands differed in their percentage of occurrence. Statistical analysis for the equality of variances revealed significant differences in the variability of the blood plasma proteins between the natives and the migrants.
