Abstract

The plant practice was conducted at the Department of Science and Technology Region 1V-A. The institution was located at Jamboree Road, Timupn, Los Banos, Laguna. It was completed specifically at the Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL) for a period of 150 hours from January 28- March 18, 2013. RSTL offers quality and standard microbiological and chemical analyses for food and water samples. During plant practice, the trainee was oriented and was made familiarized to the different laboratory practices, techniques and analyses that RSTL employs. The trainee was assigned to two laboratory facilities: Microbiology and Chemical Laboratory. She was able to assist and observe in the various analyses made in the laboratories. She was instilled with the lesson that every step and techniques used in the analyses are crucial to achieve an accurate and quality result. The trainee was able to meet professionals as well as from other walks of life and had a real view of the actual problems existing in the food industry.
