Abstract
MARALIT, MA. CARMELA C. , University of the Philippines at Los Banos, May, 1981. INHERITANCE OF RESISTANCE TO CARBARYL IN THE REC SPIDER MITES TETRANYCHUS KANZAWAI KISHIDA (ACARINA : TETRANYCHIDAE).

The possible number of genes and the type of gene action involved in the adaptive potential of the spider mite, Tetranychus kanzawai Kishida, was determined. The study specimens were mass-reared on mungbean (Vigna radiata) (CES 2C-1) plants. Resistant and susceptible strains were screened using the leaf-dip method. Genetic crosses between resistant and susceptible strains resulted to resistant F1's, mortality line divided into a 1:1 ratio of offsprings of the F1 x S backrosses and a 3:1 ratio of F2 progenies to a diagnostic dosage of 0. 39% carbaryl that had killed all the susceptible mites. Resistance to carbaryl was suggested to be due to the operation of a major gene with complete dominance.
