Abstract

A filipina propositus was reports to have B-thalassmia. Analysis of hemoglobin protein of a B-thalassemia affected family was conducted using starch-gel electrophoresis. The banding patterns from each member of the family revealed a single band with an RF value of 0.16. The banding pattern showed that neither hemoglobin variant not hemoglobinopathy was encountered in this screeming procedures. Red cell morphology in family was normal except for III-2, III-3, III-4 and II-9 whose blood cells were slightly hypochromic.
