Samples of 7,870 dead and live births of normal an Mongoloid babies from mothers aged 20 to 53 were taken f the Medical Records Section of ten (10) hospitals from Laguna, Mindoro, and Quezon provinces. The effect of maternal age on the following was studied (1) sex of offsprings, (2) frequency of dead babies, (3) sex of dead babies, (4) occurrence of Mongoloids, and (5) sex of Mongoloids. The correlation analysis showed significantly that the frequency of child birth decreases as maternal age increases. A secondary sex ratio (no. of males per 100 females) of 117.5 was obtained from the data. A total of 218 dead babies were gathered out of which 136 are males and 82 are females. Analysis showed that the frequency of dead babies significantly decreases as the age of the mother increases. Nineteen Down Syndrome cases were recorded consisting of 11 males and 8 females. Analysis of results showed a significant increase in the occurrence of Mongoloids as the mother grows older. Also, an increase in the maternal age caused a significant increase in the frequency of male Mongoloids.
