Abstract
First flowering of M. lagenicaulis occurs at its eight to ten years of growth. Successive inflorescences were observed thereafter from the shedding of each leaf. It takes about a year from inflorescence sprouting to full of the spathe. Mature fruits can be harvested two years after fruit setting and seed germination occurs in six to eight months. In general melosis of M. legenicaulis is normal although in some instances laggards and bridges can be observed in anaphase I and II. Non-congression of the chromosome at Metaphase I and II was also observed. The chromosome number is 2n=32.
