Abstract
PASCUAL, KIM APRIL. 1980. In Vitro Culture of Skeletal Muscle Cells of Rat mindanensis in Coconut Water Media. An undergraduate thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a degree of Bachelor of Science in Biology, under Dr. William G. Padolina, University of the Philippines at Los Banos. First Semester, 1980-81.
Skeletal muscle cells of Rate, mindanensis cultured in different ratios of coconut water and Hanks' Biological Saline Solution (HBSS) within 96 hours showed an occurrence of cell growth and survival. Cells cultured in pure coconut water also exhibited growth but with the supplementation of nutrient materials and conditions favorable to its growth (e.g. treatment 4) further increase in growth and differentiation occur, ,4 More studies in the improvement of the media can be made to be able to utilize coconut water as a medium in other experimental studies and researches.
