Abstract
The pesticides carbaryl, methyl parathion and malathion have a significantly different detrimental effect on rice field ostracods with the following degree of toxicity: malathion carbaryl methyl parathion. Mortality of ostracods and its predation rate on the blue green algae (GA) shoved a significant correlation between then. The significant regression obtained stuns from the observation that for every change in the mortality of ostracods there is a corresponding change in the population of EGA, since ostracods are predators of WA. On the other hand, the population of WA may not significantly affect the mortality of ostracods thus the insignificant correlation. The simple regression curve exhibits an exponential relationship signifying a geometric increase in the population of GGA for every increase in the mortality of ostracods as affected by the three types of pesticides.
