Abstract
Twenty five spiders were sampled from a sweet potato area at Fisheries, Mayondon, Los Banos, Laguna from November, 1991 to March, 1993. Based on the morphological characters such as chel icerae, eyes, labium, legs, spination, spinnerets, spiracles and sternum, they were classified into eight families namely: Araneidae, Clubionidae, Linyphiidae, Salticidae, Tetragnathidae, Theridiidae and Thomisidae. The most frequently encountered spiders belong to Family Araneidae. Tentative identification based on the characters such as claw, clypeus, endites, length and width of cephalothorax, tarsi, tibia and row, of eyes revealed that the sample spiders consisted of 17 genera and 18 species. The predominant species encountered is a jumping spider, Marpissa hivittatus De Geer.
